Gratitude is a powerful trait in many great and strong leaders. The ability to be grateful for ones journey so far, and be grateful to all those who contributed to ones life, is a skill that needs to be cultivated, and Victoria Ibiwoye has shown through her post that she has a grateful heart indeed especially as a youth envoy on education.

Who is Victoria Ibiwoye?
Victoria is the Director of OneAfricanChild Foundation for Creative Learning, a youth-led organisation committed to redefining quality education for low-income community children through activity-based workshops, advocacy and empowerment programmes. Her passion for education has earned her a role as the Youth Representative to the SDG-Education 2030 Steering Committee, the global coordination mechanism for the education goal on SDG-4, mandated to play a key role in the global review of progress on education in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

“First time I was to deliver a message at the UN, Lily (seated to my right) introduced me as the Youth Envoy on Education. I didn’t realise that my role with UNESCO had such a dignifying title haha. I can be rooted in service that I forget that titles matter.
That moment made me conscious of the intensity of my responsibility to serve the millions of children and youth who are still marginalised in their access to basic quality education.
The ECOSOC Youth Forum, particularly the breakout session on Education, was a moment that provided the youth with an opportunity to share their lived experiences while advocating for more quality and inclusive education for all. Key recommendations from this session will influence policy processes on education this year such as the SDG Summit in September and other high-level events.
So many amazing highlights at the Youth Forum but sharing about Lily and her support for me, is my greatest highlight! Super grateful to many others who have constantly supported me to reach the sky and aim for more.”
