One of the best decisions I have ever made was to defy all odds to start GIRL Afrique. I had been reaching out as a hobby to girls, hosting weekend sleep-overs where we would discuss into the night, pray together and just listen to one other.

Yes today is International Women’s Day, we are celebrating young women in Africa, but this one is so special. Today, we shall also be celebrating a quiet-looking young African gentleman who also puts so much of his effort into helping women in the areas of Sexual, Health, Reproductive and Right issues in his society. 1. Let’s get to know you Philip Philip Bagyiliko Tengzu is my name. A native of Ghana. I hold a BA degree in communication with a specialization in journalism from the Ghana Institute of Journalism. Dragging my bag towards a seat at the airport, Eneni was the prettiest lady sitting down at the waiting section. I wanted to say hello, but I just wasn’t sure if she was a YALI participant so I just kept moving. It turns out she was actually a YALI participant and she’s what we call “A beautiful lady with a powerful brain…” I simply call her the “Lady Leader.” Let’s know more about this great lady. 1. Meganne is one amazing young lady you should all meet. I’m Meganne Lorraine Boho, I am very passionate about sports particularly soccer. I created a group of soccer lovers on Facebook since 2013. My inspiring African Hero is no one else than my mother Madam Lucile Boho. She is a woman with a big heart who taught me the power of forgiveness. I’m still amazed at her courage, she is a very wise woman. I pray so that I can have the greatness of her heart. All I am today is because she pushed me ahead, she sacrificed her time, her happiness so that I can achieve all my goals in life. She is my angel and I will always thanks God for having her, she is a blessing for me. In brief she is my African Hero. I’m a freelance translator and also a journalist at Tomorrow magazine, a…

This particular interview is a unique one. The first time I met Dolapo was at the airport, waiting for our ride with other YALI participants. We sat together and she seemed like a cool, calm and ordinary young woman, we even went together with KennethCollins to buy some soft drinks and snacks. As the days flew by and I got to know her some more, I realized this was just no ordinary lady. Dolapo is an epitome of greatness. She studied Child Health and Social Care at the University of Central Lancashire, Preston, U.K so as to understand better how to care for the young under-served children in Nigeria. She has done so much for under-served children in Nigeria through her NGO, Dolly Children Foundation, building school buildings and donating facilities to public schools in rural communities in Nigeria. It was a privilege to meet her. Let’s Get To Know…
