I come from a home,
Where children are born
Just to taste the fertility of parents
Who most times give their utmost care
To the ones yet unborn;
Because they enjoy the process,
Not the progress.
I come from a home,
Where children are denied care
But animals are cared for; because they Produce money,
And children they say, reduce money.
Chickens are chased to their place of Roost while
Children are chased from their place of Roost.
I come from a home,
Where parents despite their little Wealth,
Refuse to send their children to school
For fear of being bullied;
They rather indulge them in farming
Where the measure of their wealth is Measured.
I come from a home,
Where my sisters are neglected
Because our leaders see them as bread Eaters,
But most times they become breadwinners.
Sending them to school is a taboo,
But now, some are rather ‘co-mating’ taboo.
I come from a home,
Where the ethics of marriage is going Extinct
Because children want to model their Parents,
Testing their fertility,
Without burdening of their virginities
Oh! How I wish to build a better home!
