Meet Regina Augusto Charumar, a defender and lover of the environment, climate advocate, civil society volunteer, PhD student in Sustainability, professor and founder of the Environmental Movement Generation in Mozambique.
My secret to success is my focus and my persistence. I am a dreamer, and the success of my dreams depend on my focus.
Who’s Regina Augusto Charumar? What sparks her interests, what good does she want to see and do in the world?
Regina Charumar is an environmentalist and a dreamy woman. She’s 33 years old, was born on the border but lives in Maputo, Mozambique. She is a PhD student in Sustainability, a climate advocate, civil society volunteer, award winner, TV presenter, professor and founder of the Environmental Movement Generation. Regina wants to see a more conscious and ecological Mozambique and wants an environmentally better society.
What’s something you’re working on now that you want more people to know about and should support you on
For about 8 years, I have been working in environmental volunteering with young people, carrying out beach cleaning campaigns, tree planting, recycling workshops, environmental lectures and mangrove restoration across the country. I am the founder of the Environmental Movement (Movimento Ambiental Geração Consciente), which educates citizens on the importance of the environment, as well as carries out activities that restore our environment.
Do you have a secret to success?
My secret to success is my focus and my persistence. I am a dreamer, and the success of my dreams depend on my focus.
Is there a sad story about your social enterprise you’ve never told anyone of, but believe others could learn a thing or 2 from
I think what’s sad is the lack of support from institutions for this cause. Support is lacking for those who are working on environmental initiatives and that limits us. We often feel alone in this struggle but we believe everyone should be involved in this.
