Mirabelle Morah Represents BlankPaperz in South Africa as Ashoka Africa Youth Champion
Mirabelle Morah, our Editor represents BlankPaperz in South Africa as an Ashoka Africa Youth Champion. During the summit, Mirabelle alongside Catherine Peter, Chairman of One Young World Africa, facilitated a parallel session on the topic, A Future for Youth; asking fellow participants about their opinions on formal education in Africa and how formal education affects youth employability. “A good attitude and a great learning spirit, these two things go beyond formal education and are important skills or values every youth should have,” said Mirabelle. IMPACT! AFRICA is a mobilizing summit organized by the British Council and Ashoka, which aims to accelerate innovative solutions to Africa’s most pressing challenges by inspiring, supporting, and connecting leading social entrepreneurs and key ecosystem players across countries, organizations, and sectors – such as policy, social investment, business, and education. The A-Writers Masterclass Just Ended!
Many thanks to the James Ene Henshaw Foundation, Bramodigi, Simon Cohen and the amazing rockstars who volunteered to make the masterclass work! Writing Workshop With Teens at NICO Commercial School
Thanks so much to Godwin Ovat and Victor Eyo for volunteering to make this a success. The essence of this workshop was to inspire and encourage young teenagers who had writing skills to write better and to let them know that stories are powerful and they are not too young to accomplish anything in life. Books were given out as well. Thanks to the Sunrise Youth Intervention Organization for contributing a carton of Teenage Bibles, Reach 4 Life, which was distributed for free to the students and many thanks as well, to the management of NICO Commercial School for their reception and hospitality.

MIRABELLE MORAH NIGERIA, 19 Project: Blank Paperz Basic Human Needs: Education Growing up in Calabar, Nigeria, Mirabelle knew many girls who were victims of sexual abuse, and had witnessed gender-based violence regularly in her community. While these horrible injustices went on, few people acknowledged them. Mirabelle saw the power of influential writers in her nation to inspire citizens to fight for equality, and knew writing could be a tool to address the issues in her society. Mirabelle created Blank Paperz, an online platform for young writers to share their voices and advocate for social change. Since its inception, 100+ young people from more than 12 countries have been published on Blank Paperz, reaching 70,000 viewers online. A World Beyond Our Age
A World Beyond Our Age was a secondary school talk session with the outgoing students of St. Annes High School, speaking to them about life after high school, why they needed to find their purpose as well as answering questions they might have had about making career choices and also making life choices at such a young ages. James Okina from Street Priests and Mirabelle Morah, BlankPaperz Editor in Chief were around to talk to the class of over 40 students about life choices and finding their purpose.

Ofem Ubi was born on the 25th of May. He is just another average Nigerian citizen with love for music and scripting (of any and all kind). He obtained his Secondary School Certificate from Hope Wadell Training Institution and is currently in pursuit of a degree in Mass Communication, Cross River University of Technology. Ofem seeks to explore the world of Arts and the intricacies that come with it and sees himself as nothing but a bleeding pen held by the hands of nature to converse with the world and with each line, each rhythm, each melody, each piece of Art Mother Nature uses him to create,he hopes the world listens. The man who never reads lives only one.” The Blankpaperz Monthly Book Giveaway is a simple contest carried out monthly so as to gift book prizes to as many young people as possible. This contest was started in December 2016, with the first winner being Idongesit Peter. The goal is to encourage and increase reading habits amongst young people. GUIDELINES TO DONATING You can help young people read more by donating books to be given out during the giveaway contests. More books means more people reading, and more people reading means more knowledge. Books such as: – Biographies, autobiographies, novels, motivationals, history books, notepads, journals, Bibles, etc. are accepted.
