Sour Oranges
My father’s second wife stopped treating me with so much hatred. Few years after my mother died she stopped the mistreatment and even said I could go back to school. She became strangely kind ever since I started hawking or as she’d rather call it “selling oranges”. Even my dressing soon improved. She brought new ones every week. She had told me then that “looking good is good for business”. My fears rose with the setting of sun deep beneath the dark horizon at the dusk of everyday. I would be sent out again; to be devoured by those hawks. I was too scared to refuse or say no to my step-mother or Uduak as I’d rather call her. She would starve me for three days and I’d be left to sleep on the varender for three complete nights even when it rains. The first night I sold my oranges…
Forgotten (Episode 4)
I got into mama’s room to find Hannah mopping mama’s face again. She had tears in her eyes, and mama, she lay too still. I stepped closer, placed my palms on mama’s forehead, she was cold and her earlobes seemed to have been oozing blood. I also saw similar redness beneath her nostrils. mama, mama. I wanted to know if she could hear. She didn’t answer or move an inch. Hannah returned her gaze to me, her eyes inquiring, wanting to know what was next. But I was as blank. I thought to run to doctor paul, but he was never in his clinic on weekends. I tried to call his cell but it didn’t ring – I should have known. He wouldn’t have his phone on by 07:15am on a Sunday morning. My gaze strayed around the room, hoping I’d see something that would give me an idea. Boxes…

The April Letter
I have desired so much in life, to be great, an actress, a broadcaster, a model, a lawyer, a humanitarian and I have been all in writing.
I still communicate with my hero every now and then. He has most of my beautiful written works.
Works written on the Sands of time.

Forgotten (Episode 2)
Thirty minutes into the prayer, just as we were about to round up with the “litany of our Blessed virgin Mary” prayer, we heard a sound that had stopped us short. It came from inside mama’s room so we all stopped to listen. “Jonah!
“Jonah! Hannah?, ina ku ke? Sarah?” it was mama and she was awake.

The Problem of the Day and the Sea of Bribery and Corruption
For it was also said “there’s enough for everyone’s need but not for everyone’s greed”, the act of greediness in our society has helped in promoting bribery and corruption. Not only has it promoted bribery and corruption, it has also been the reason for the failure of many talented young Africans! When I say the failure of many young Africans, I mean not to say it’s the fault of theirs, no! But it is as a result of their supposed positions (in education or employment opportunities) being given to others.
It’s a pity! It’s devastating to see the Careers of these young talented Africans come to a halt because they refused to indulge in bribery and corruption. In fact, it’s heart attacking!
Let’s join hands together to bring bribery and corruption to an end in order to solve the problem of the day.
Arise Africa, arise Ghana.
PEACE!

Forgotten (Episode 1)
Yesterday, Mama came back from her shop a little early than usual, she had that pale look in her eyes, I could recall noticing how slow she was, preparing my sisters for school that morning. She didn’t answer our greetings or asked if we had gone to the chapel like she used to, she just walked unsteadily passed my kid sister who was playing on the mat and before she could open her bedroom door, she passed out…

I am sure this is the first time you read a writing of me. Well, let me welcome you anyway. In the next few minutes, several letters and a couple of paragraphs; we are going to talk about a real story. If I say real, yes, I mean it is something I have experienced. You will not only enjoy reading me, I will share a lesson I learnt with you.

I Need Feminism
I need feminism because I’m tired of hearing pastors and bishops telling women that they are irresponsible for been single at 35 years old
I need feminism because I hate it when my president thinks a woman’s place lies in the kitchen.
I need feminism because my worth and esteem as a human is not and can never be tied to my MASCULINITY
I need feminism because I hate it when the male gender makes choices for the female gender
I need feminism because emotion doesn’t ask or care about your gender
I need feminism because I don’t want to find an excuse to justify rape
Why do you need feminism?
